A New Type of Rolling Bearings – LEG Bearing

Today, let us learn something about a new kind of bearing which has a compact structure. It is called LEG bearing.

LEG bearings are especially designed for rolling bearings and linear systems. Engineers have done a lot of research and development on this new type of bearing product. The structure of this bearing is very compact, and it can be installed in a small space. It can meet various special requirements of users. Due to the special structural design, LEG bearing is very thin. Thus, it is suitable for any narrow space for installation.  

In Franke companies, every product has maintained such a product design principle, namely, four-point angular contact bearings and the roller included in the ball cage. When users have special requirements, it can be designed into sealed structures. Four bearing raceways of Dalian FAG bearings can form the four-point double row angular contact bearings or the single row angular contact ball bearings according to the different requirements of usage.

Franke Company has developed this LEG bearing for a factory which manufactures gearboxes. After that, the SKF Bearings in Suzhou also successfully developed a number of different types of LEG bearings which passed the performance test. Mr. Stephan Kuhn, the technical director of the Franke Company, says that they design the best solution project for research and development according to various users’ different requirements. Mr. Stephan Kuhn is also the introducer of the LEG products.

As is mentioned above, the greatest advantage of LEG bearing is that its structure is very compact. Its cross section is only 5mm. Meanwhile, the weight of this kind of bearing is also 60% lighter than that of the ordinary FAG bearings. The reasonable price which is resulted from the mass production is also the key factor for the success of the LEG bearing. It is becoming the ideal substitute for traditional ball bearings and thin-wall bearings. Currently, Franke Company is developing new uses for such a narrow bearing. For example, it can be used in the loading and unloading system in the automotive industry.

Shandong FAG Bearings makes the LEG series very narrow. Therefore, they can be applied in the narrow space. In addition, this product has very light weight. And it is very easy to be installed. Because its bearing angle is 60 °, it belongs to the radial bearing. There is another characteristic of the LEG bearing. i.e. it only has two raceways, but it has the same performance as the INA bearing with four raceways.
